Engr Benjamin Akaakar is the Vice President - Technical, Advanced
Energy Partners.
He is an engineer with thirty-two years’ experience in oil and
gas integrated services and knowledge in oil, gas, power and
financing sector. He holds a bachelor's in Chemical Engineering
(B.Eng.) from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria (1985), a
Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from University of
Port-Harcourt (1996). In 1987 he joined the Nigeria National
Petroleum Corporation where he served the corporation in various
capacities. In 1999, he took appointment with Shell Nigeria,
serving as the Senior Process/ Facilities Engineer in various
shell facilities (1999-2005).
His unmatched experience and capabilities earned him the position
of Head of Technical Services for Shell Companies in Nigeria,
tasked with the responsibility of front-end engineering design
(2008-2012). In November 2012, He was appointed Former General
Manager/Technical Assistant Upstream Projects to the Group
Managing Director of NNPC, where he focused on production losses,
facility vandalism, deep offshore projects and implementation of
the gas master plan. He is also serving as the
Vice-Chairman/Director Business Advisory at Plus Engineering and
Support Services limited at Port Harcourt and Abuja.
Mr. Benjamin Akaakar is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of
Chemical Engineers, a registered engineer with the Council of
Regulation of Engineers in Nigeria (COREN), Board Member Nigeria
Society of Chemical Engineers, Member/ Director National Minerals
Implementation and Steering Team (MIST) in The Federal Ministry of
Mines and Steel Development. He has presented several academic and
professional papers. Mr. Benjamin Akaakar is a family man, a
Christian, a community leader who loves to play golf, squash and
lawn tennis.
